The Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) recognizes the significant challenges for each of us, some of which may have impacted your planned path toward medical school. The sudden and dramatic changes resulting from COVID-19 have impacted not only the delivery of academic programs, MCAT exam schedules, and opportunities to gain healthcare and volunteer experiences but also the entirety of our lives.

We encourage you to answer the COVID-19 essay on your AACOMAS application which will provide you the opportunity to highlight how you have adapted to adversity and shown perseverance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We participate in the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOMAS), the centralized online application service for the U.S. colleges of osteopathic medicine. AACOMAS simplifies the application process by offering you the convenience of completing a single online application for each osteopathic medical school you choose.

Applicants interested in applying to Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine must complete an online application through AACOMAS once the application cycle opens in May. Primary applications are accepted from the Opening Day of AACOMAS through March 1, as CUSOM offers a rolling admissions cycle.

Secondary applications are granted by invitation only. The secondary application process consists of the application, a non-refundable processing fee, and two required letters of recommendation. The last date to submit a secondary application is March 15, unless otherwise noted by the Office of Admissions.

A $50.00 application fee is required when submitting your secondary application. We accept AACOMAS fee waivers as well. If you have been granted an AACOMAS fee waiver, please email the waiver to the Office of Admissions.

Letters of recommendation

• Letters of recommendation may not be written by a relative, including blood relatives and relatives through marriage.

• All letters of recommendation must be typed on official letterhead and signed.

• One letter must be from an osteopathic physician (DO) or an allopathic physician (MD). Although a letter from an osteopathic physician is not required, it is encouraged.

• The second letter must be from a Pre-Health committee, Pre-Health Advisor, or faculty member with a doctoral degree. Letters of recommendation included as part of a Pre-Health committee packet are accepted.

• Letters from an official evaluation collection service (AACOMAS, Interfolio, or similar service) that are part of an official packet will be accepted without signature or letterhead as long as the letters are sent directly from the authors to Pre-Health advisors.

• Letters are accepted through AACOMAS, Interfolio, and mail at any time in the application process.

• Up to 5 additional letters of support or recommendation from an acquaintance of the applicant’s academic or professional ability may be accepted.

Once the Office of Admissions has received the secondary application, application fee or waiver, required letters of recommendation, official MCAT scores, and all other supporting documents, the complete application is sent for review.

If selected to participate in an Applicant Day, applicants will be notified via email. Applicant Days will be conducted virtually for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle.

Applicant Day, a key component of CUSOM’s holistic applicant process, is a day dedicated entirely to the applicant and utilizes interactive dialogue sessions in place of the traditional, formal “one-on-one” interview.

The Admissions Committee may make any of the following recommendations: accept, deny, or waitlist. Because we operate on a rolling admissions cycle, Applicant Day participants will be notified of the Admissions Committee’s decision within a few weeks.

All accepted applicants are required to submit a $1500 non-refundable deposit by the specified date:

• Those accepted prior to November 15 will have until December 14.
• Those accepted between November 15 and January 14 will have 30 days.
• Those accepted between January 15 and May 14 will have 14 days.
• Those accepted after May 15 may be asked for an immediate deposit (24 hours).

Accepted applicants must review, acknowledge, and submit an electronic signature for the Offer of Admission, Technical Standards, and Academic Bulletin. The applicant must also meet all clinical and academic requirements for matriculation, which will be provided in the acceptance letter.

Campbell Law and Campbell Medicine partner to offer a unique dual degree opportunity. This program allows students to pursue and obtain a Juris Doctor and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine simultaneously.  Prospective students will be able to enroll in the JD/DO option and must be admitted to both programs.
