Required Graduate Medical Education
After successfully completing medical school, aspiring Sports Medicine Physicians first complete a residency in one of the five primary specialties: Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. They then can go on to additional training of 1—2 years in an accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
When to Apply
Applications for our fellowship program are reviewed between July through December. Interviews are conducted during this same time frame for acceptance into the program the following academic year on July 1st. We encourage applicants to apply as early as possible.
How to Apply
Our program is participating in the NRMP (National Residency Matching Program, or The Match). All applicants must apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Candidates are carefully selected by the Program Director based on application materials and the face-to-face interviews. We do not sponsor visas. Please visit the AAMC website for more information about applying to fellowships with ERAS.
